'THINKING OUTSIDE THE BOX'
'The neuro-viscero-somatic link'
Did you ever get stuck with a patient or client, not knowing why certain dysfunctions did not improve despite trying all the tools in your therapeutic toolkit? Then this might be an eye-opening series of seminars for you.
Most manual therapy-based treatments are based on the muscular and joint systems, and to a lesser extent, the nervous system. In most dysfunctions this may be enough to treat the athlete but often, the dysfunction comes back or persists no matter what you do.
These seminars with Trevor Montgomery and Jelle Zandveld will show you a different way to look at your client. This more holistic view will show you how the different organ systems that make up the viceral system can influence the somatic system to create dysfunctional movement patterns. It will also give you an appreciation of the role that sensitization of the nervous system and common developmental delays have on movement.
They will provide an overview of the Gastrointestinal tract and its influence on the spine and extremities and will give you a series of tools to treat these structures. You will learn how visceral treatment can influence the function of the musculoskeletal system. You will learn how to address the dysfunctions that can occur when the integral relationships between the nervous system, the visceral system and the somatic system (musculoskeletal system) breaks down.
Trevor Montgomery will train you how to use segmental desensitzation techniques that can influence movement of the viscero-somatic system. He will also teach you how to recognize and address the retention of infantile primitive reflexes that often underpin recurrent injury and dysfunction within the adolescent and adult athlete.
The osteopathic visceral treatment of the myo-viscero-fascial system will be taught by Jelle Zandveld and he will show you how the manual treatment of the organs will directly influence your mobility, stability, strength and functional movement patterns.
Both Trevor Montgomery and Jelle Zandveld have a long history with the Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) and are certified across multiple streams of the TPI accreditation programme. They decided to team up after collaborating on multiple patients and recognizing the power of the combination of dry needling, primitive reflex abolition, segmental desensitization and visceral treatment.
